Such was the voice and training of Margaret Harshaw, who studied with Anna E. Schoen-René—the musical daughter of Pauline Viardot-García and Manuel Garcia, and began her career as a mezzo-soprano at the Metropolitan Opera, before ascending to dramatic soprano roles.
