Tech Up and Sing

Yesterday, I gave a workshop on the Trill that was designed for four participants. Oddly enough, because of very curious circumstances, I ended up giving the workshop to one participant—a wonderful soprano who has been working with me for the last couple of months. And she got it—the Trill that is—being able to accomplish it in under an hour.

My workshop for one started on Zoom, but Zoom didn’t perform very well—my student’s voice cut out the whole time—so we moved over to FarPlay—my preferred platform—which has superior audio quality.

This and other unfortunate experiences have brought me to the following realization.

No more Zoom for me.

Facetime can work in a pinch as can Skype, but I will be a FarPlay Man going forward for lessons, workshops, and masterclasses.

No, I don’t require that Introductory Lessons be conducted over FarPlay, but if you are considering entering the studio, FarPlay is simply the best thing going—even better than Zoom and Cleanfeed. Most of my clients use FarPlay now and can’t imagine anything else, while the remaining few are in the process of leveling up.

Does this mean you will need to “tech up” to work with the Shigo Voice Studio?

Yes, it does!

And, believe me, it’s worth it! Once you experience the immediacy of FarPlay’s low-latency oh-my-god-it’s-like-we’re-in-the-same-room platform and superior audio quality, there is no going back. It’s a game-changer.

Tech up and sing!

Find the requirements for using FarPlay here. Do opt for using an external audio interface. Why? A good external microphone is better than the one on your computer and will enable me to hear your voice, while good open-back headphones will enable you to hear me! Find my set-up here.
